The Label-Reading Obsession

As biology teachers, we spend our days exploring how life works and understanding what our bodies need to thrive. When our son was born, that professional curiosity naturally turned toward the food we were bringing home. We started reading the back of every ice cream tub and dessert box at the store.

What we found was concerning. Most commercial treats were loaded with artificial colors, synthetic thickeners, and weird chemicals that simply don't belong in a growing child's body. Because of our background in biology, we knew exactly what those ingredients were—and we knew we had to do better.

From Classroom to Kitchen

We decided to make our own ice cream from scratch. We treated our kitchen like a flavor lab, but with one strict rule: absolutely no artificial shortcuts.

We used our understanding of science to perfect the recipe naturally.
